I am going to be 80 this coming September so that means I grew up during the depression. I saw my parents and everyone else in the neighborhood lose their home. When I got married I saved and bought a house that I lived in for 50 years, raised seven children, and waited for the so called golden years-then my wife got Alzheimer's. All my friend were telling me that if I put her in a nursing home it would be very expensive and if I could not pay the government would take my house. So I kept her home as long as I could thinking all the while that I would lose my house if the money ran out while she was in a nursing home. After thinking that I would have nothing left, I decided to move to Texas to be near my three children. So I sold my home and we moved in with one son.

One of my sons took me to meet Christina. During the first visit Christina explained my different options. I went home that night and got the first good night sleep I had in a couple of years. Christina explained that I could buy another house and a car. She started the ball rolling got all the papers for Medicaid. After we where here for a while, I was ready to put my wife into a nursing home. Christina did all the work herself and kept me up to date on what was going to happen. She put me at ease and made both my wife and I happy about the arrangements. We got the o.k. from Medicaid. She is almost a kid herself and yet she knows so much. When you ask her a question, she has an answer for it. I would recommend her very, very highly. What is nice about it is that I get a kiss and a hug from her when I leave her office. I am very, very happy. I use to lay in bed and worry about losing everything in the golden years. I worked for a school district and retired on full pension so we traveled a lot. There are no regrets. There are no we should haves. It is bad enough to face the disease but it is mush worse when you think you will lose everything. I saw it worse when I was young. Christina has been super! She is a nice sweet person- a perfectionist but also sensitive.

When I realized that my parents needed some significant help with their health and financial issues, I found myself overwhelmed. My father had been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. My mother continues to face severe arthritis. I was faced with closing and selling my father's business, disposing of assets and shredding records, paying out all of his debt, settling old corporate tax issues, replacing stock certificates and dealing with two years of tax returns. If that was not enough, it was clear that my Mother could no long care for my Dad and we were faced with selecting a nursing home that could handle my Dad's health issues and his restrictive Celiac Disease diet. I should mention that there were at least four hospitalizations during this time frame along with a variety of doctor visits.

I knew that I would need legal help and began looking for an elder-law attorney, and found Christina Lesher. In the kindest and most emphatic way Christina was able to help us come up with a plan that would ensure care for both parents and untangle the legal and tax issues that were facing my parents. Christina was the glue that kept all of us together and kept me focused on what had to be accomplished. I could not have done it without her.

Having been through this with my parents, I am already laying the foundations for retirement issues for both my husband and myself. You can quickly find yourself facing a health crisis and be force to make really tough financial choices that you did not plan for. It is never too early too plan.

Christina will always be out attorney-but has become a treasured family friend!

I would like to thank Christina Lesher, P.C. for her expert and caring guidance through the end of life issues concerning my wonderful stepfather. Christina met with George and me on several occasions. She helped us make the very best decisions regarding Medicaid, potential assistance from the VA administration, procedures for gifting, collecting insurance, paying debts, arranging prepayment of funeral expenses and the eventual successful completion of the probate process. I would highly recommend Christina Lesher, as she is a most knowledgeable elder law expert. Her charming personality made it very possible for every one to relax, face issues squarely and make the proper decisions. For all of the above reasons she had my gratitude and my sincere thanks.

The first contact with Christina was through the Internet. My son and daughter-in-law found her listing called and spoke with her on the phone then called me. The first time we met in person with Christina, she made us feel very much at home. All our fears and worries about going through a process we were not familiar with eased once we met with her. Every step of the way Christina made me feel like I was her only client. Medicaid is a very complicated process and I was concerned about applying for my husband's benefits. Christina explained the process in a way that made each step easy to understand and follow. Any time there was a question Christina was available either by phone or the Internet. I feel that having gone through similar experiences herself made Christina the perfect person to handle our needs. Christina Lesher is a professional and caring individual. We were fortunate that God sent this wonderful person to our family.
